Dans quelles pièces de Shakespeare trouvons-t-on des inspirations de Chaucer et Spenser et Holinshed?

Raphael Holinshed's 'The Chronicles of England, Ireland and Scotland' are the most important source, obviously for the History Plays. These are usually divided into the First Tetralogy - Henry VI Parts I, II, III and Richard III and the Henriad - Richard II, Henry IV Part I, II, Henry V, King John and lastly Henry VIII. Chaucer's influence is to be found in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Troilus and Cressida, and Two Noble Kinsmen. Shakespeare took one of his ideas for Much Ado about Nothing from Spencer's The Faerie Queen. Here is some suggested reading on the subject - first of all 'Essential Shakespeare Handbook' by Leslie Dunton-Downer and Alan Riding (published by Dorling Kindersley 978 0751 34882 8) and the important works of EMW Tillyard 'The Elizabethan World Picture' and 'Shakespeare's History Plays'
